NSM’s Credit Policy for 2024 has been updated to best reflect our current processes and procedures. Please take some time to review the updated policy and discuss the updates with your teams. The policy can be found on the
Funding Policies and Procedures page on WNSM.
A few key highlights:
1. Policy has been moved to the new 2024 NSM policy and procedure format.
2. Removed invalid
NSAL requirement and added current
Notification of Unconfirmed Insurance Coverage letter and guidelines.
3. Included our current
SCA/LOA requirements for non-contracted payers.
4. Added emphasis on
Client Responsibility collection prior to purchase with the following changes:
- Rental Coinsurance: Collect 100% of Rental Coinsurance for Commercial Payers at the time of initial rental delivery vs. time of monthly claims when the payer allows (Data confirmed 85% to 95% of commercial rentals complete month 9 or full-term and 99% of our Commercial Payers allow this practice unless otherwise stated in the UPD)
- Past Due Balance Collection – Refined steps needed if we are unable to collect or resolve outstanding balances from previous orders.
- Review, validate, discuss, and collect or resolve any remaining past due client balance(s) from previous orders as shown in Patient Invoiced field.
- Once collected, if previous balance was past due, the current order is also not eligible for a Credit Exception to purchase without collection of the current order client responsibility balance.
- If unable to collect a previous outstanding balance due, discuss with leadership prior to proceeding with current order. The previous balance must be collected or resolved, the current work order client balance must be collected, and a Credit Exception approval is required to proceed.
