Since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed during May. Mental health is a vital part of our overall physical health, referring to our emotional and social well-being. Mental Health plays a role in all aspects of our lives, such as making decisions, handling stress and connecting with others.
The month-long observance was launched to reduce the stigma associated with mental health and to encourage individuals to seek help if they need it. Millions of people have mental health concerns, some recently resulting from the stress, isolation and uncertainty accompanying the pandemic.
Your mental health is a necessary priority, not just in May, but every day! NSM cares about your mental health and provides resources through our benefits partners to support you.
